In an interview, J Rafiq Ahmed, Chairman of Kothari Industries, discussed the inauguration of a new non-leather footwear manufacturing facility in Karur District, Tamil Nadu. He confirmed the plant's major client, stating, "This is a manufacturing facility for Adidas." Ahmed detailed the project's economic impact, noting that the current phase involves an investment of up to 850 crores and is expected to employ 6,750 people directly.
He projected future expansions could increase employment to 13,000 people with investments reaching 1,800 crores. Ahmed highlighted the social benefits of the industry, particularly in empowering women through employment, free food, and transportation. He mentioned that the Chief Minister attended the groundbreaking ceremony on short notice to support women's employment and new industries in backward areas. Additionally, Ahmed shared that the Chief Minister signed a shoe for the factory's display, referencing his past acting role in the movie Premamudan.
