The man, identified as Uday Mahato of Khyala area of the city, was declared after he was rushed to the hospital, IANS reported.
Rajouri Garden Police have registered a complaint and launched a search operation for the accused driver, who remains absconding. Visuals that have emerged after the accident showed distraught people in the Khyala region of the city mourning the deceased man. Khyala is a densely populated working class area of the city. Earlier this month, a speeding tempo had killed at least three people in the Alipur area of the city. The accident happened when the driver of the tempo allegedly fell asleep while driving and rammed the vehicle into a flyover pillar, according to an official quoted by PTI. The impact had caused heavy damage to the vehicle and trapped its occupants inside the cabin. Police said the accident took place near the Bakoli bus stand in the outer north of Delhi’s Alipur, when the vehicle was travelling towards Mukarba Chowk.
