A sightseeing boat tragedy off Vietnam's Phu Quoc Island has claimed the lives of 15 Indian nationals, including ten from Tamil Nadu, three from Andhra Pradesh, and two from Kerala. The victims were part of a trip organized by a cell phone company to reward individuals for achieving their targets. According to the transcript, the incident occurred between 10 and 11 AM after the group boarded a fast boat.
Passengers seated at the back of the vessel drowned, while those in the front were rescued. One injured Indian is currently receiving medical treatment in Vietnam, while several survivors have started returning to India. The Tamil Nadu government has deployed a senior police official from the Salem district to Vietnam to assist with the identification and repatriation process. State ministers are coordinating with the central government to bring back the mortal remains of the victims, which are expected to arrive in India shortly.
