At least 15 Indian tourists lost their lives after a boat carrying 36 passengers capsized off Vietnam’s popular Phu Quoc island. The vessel overturned due to rough waves and strong currents just 400 meters from shore while heading from Hòn Mê island to An Thới Port. Most passengers were Indian nationals from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.
The Indian Embassy has set up emergency centres in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to assist families. Prime Minister has expressed deep condolences and directed full support.
