(Representative image) In a shocking incident, a seven-year-old girl was found dead at an under-construction mall in Raj Nagar Extension in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, sparking outrage and panic in the area. Senior police and administrative officials reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and inspected the crime scene. A forensic team also collected evidence and began its investigation. According to the family, the girl had been missing since around 7 pm on Friday.
Family members and residents searched for her until late at night but could not find her. At around 1 am, her body was discovered in the basement of the under-construction mall. The family claimed that the condition of the body was extremely distressing, leading to widespread anger among relatives. The girl’s maternal uncle alleged that the victim’s younger brother had told the family that two young men working at the construction site had lured her away by offering her a soft drink. Based on this statement, police detained two suspects for questioning. Police cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. Based on the family’s complaint, a case was registered, and investigators began probing the matter from all possible angles.
Police are also examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to establish the sequence of events and identify all those involved. Officials said that, given the seriousness of the case, every aspect is being thoroughly investigated. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and forensic findings. One Of The Two Accused Arrested In a subsequent development, police said one of the two arrested accused has been identified as Shahabuddin, while the other is a minor. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime. According to the police, they lured the girl with the promise of cold drinks and chips and took her inside the under-construction mall, where they allegedly gang-raped her before throwing her off the roof so that no one would find out.
