A massive land grab scam has surfaced in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer, where land sharks are targeting absentee e servicemen. In a recent incident, a ninety-two-year-old Army veteran, who fought three wars for the country, lost his twenty-five bigha farmland to fraudsters. The agricultural land was sold and registered on June 16 using forged documents and impersonation, completely bypassing identity verification processes. The war veteran, who resides in Himachal Pradesh, discovered the fraudulent sale only after being alerted by his tenant.
Adding to the ordeal, the local police delayed registering a First Information Report. The elderly e serviceman was forced to visit multiple police stations for days before the Superintendent of Police intervened, leading to the registration of a cheating case. The incident exposes severe lapses in the land verification process and highlights a coordinated network of land mafia operating in the canal belt of Jaisalmer, specifically targeting properties owned by serving and retired armed forces personnel stationed outside the state.
