Following an extensive search by multiple agencies, police declared the threat a hoax and launched an investigation to trace the caller. According to Mumbai Police, the bomb threat was received through a phone call made to the Navi Mumbai Police Control Room at around 12.13 am.
The caller claimed that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim had planted a bomb inside the Taj Hotel. The alarming claim triggered a swift response from law enforcement agencies. Teams from Mumbai Police, the Crime Branch, and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the hotel and launched a thorough search of the premises to ensure the safety of guests, staff and the surrounding area. Officials said every necessary precaution was taken as security personnel carefully examined the hotel following the threat. After completing the search operation, police confirmed that no suspicious object or explosive material was found inside the hotel. The threat was subsequently declared a hoax. In an official statement, Mumbai Police said, “Security agencies launched a massive search operation at the Taj Hotel after a bomb threat was received through a call to the Navi Mumbai Police Control Room around 12:13 a.m." “The caller claimed Dawood had planted a bomb in the hotel.
Police, Crime Branch, and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad thoroughly searched the premises but found nothing suspicious," the police said. “The threat was declared a hoax, and police are tracing the caller from Navi Mumbai’s Turbhe area," they said. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the person responsible for making the fake bomb threat. Police are yet to disclose the identity of the caller or the motive behind issuing the false threat. The investigation is continuing.
