Image used for representation A minor girl who disappeared from Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district was allegedly trafficked and sexually assaulted by several men during the four days she was missing, reported the Indian Express, citing officials involved in the investigation. The girl, aged 11 years and 11 months, was allegedly taken to different hotels and sold to “customers" for amounts ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,800. Officials also said that her medical examination confirmed sexual assault. Police have so far arrested 21 people in connection with the case, while two to three suspects remain on the run. Hotels Allegedly Charged Rs 1,000 To Rs 1,800 According to an official associated with the investigation, the hotels allegedly charged different amounts based on the appearance of the “customers".

“The hotels charged different amounts depending on how the ‘customers’ looked. The rates ranged from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,800," the official said. Authorities have also demolished four hotels, including three where the girl was allegedly confined between the night of June 18 and June 22. Instagram Friendship, Auto Ride And Alleged Exploitation The girl, went missing on the night of June 18. She was rescued by Sri Ganganagar Police from a hotel four days later. According to an investigating official, she had become friends with a young man from Sri Ganganagar on Instagram and travelled to Vijaynagar to meet him. After the meeting, she returned to the bus stand at night and took an electric auto. The driver allegedly convinced her to accompany him to a hotel, where her exploitation began, according to the official. “The girl is 11 years and 11 months old. She had befriended a youth from Ganganager on Instagram and had gone to meet him in Vijaynagar.

Different Accounts Of Number Of Accused The girl has given varying accounts of how many men were allegedly involved in the sexual assault. “She doesn’t remember exactly how many men there were… she is too young. In the FIR, the number was 12. In her statement to the police, she mentioned 11, and before the court she referred to 16 men," the official said. The official rejected reports claiming that 32 men were involved, calling that figure a “media creation." The investigation remains underway, with police searching for the remaining accused.
