The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has launched a third round of strikes on Iran after accusing the IRGC of attacking a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz. The attack reportedly damaged the vessel and left one civilian crew member missing. CENTCOM said the strikes are aimed at weakening Iran's ability to target commercial shipping in the region.
In a social media post, CENTCOM said Iran failed to follow the memorandum of understanding signed earlier this month despite being given another opportunity. Responding to the operation, U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth posted that Iran had made "a very poor choice" and would now "pay." Meanwhile, Iranian media reported explosions in southern Iran, while the IRGC said the Strait of Hormuz is closed until further notice.
