Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul has reacted to the controversy surrounding the anti-encroachment drive in Asansol, saying the government will take responsibility for any lapse. She said hawkers had been promised a 15-day notice and plans were underway to relocate them to a new market. Referring to the bulldozer action, Paul said it stemmed from a "misunderstanding" and warned that officials who fail to explain their actions could face suspension.
