Tamil Nadu government has directed the Non-Resident Tamils Welfare Department to collect details of those affected in the Vietnam boat accident and coordinate assistance. According to the report, the department is in touch with the Indian Embassy in Vietnam to identify the affected Tamils, provide emergency support, and facilitate the safe return of survivors and the bodies of those who lost their lives.
Officials said more than 20 people from Tamil Nadu were believed to be on the boat. They were reportedly mobile phone distributors who had travelled to Vietnam on a company- reward trip.
