In a recent interview, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan discussed the evolving maritime security challenges and the Indian Navy's capability enhancement plans. Following the induction of INS Mahendragiri into the fleet by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Admiral Swaminathan emphasized the importance of self-reliance in military production, noting the collaborative efforts of public and private sectors. Outlining his four main priorities, he stated, "The Indian Navy will maintain a high level of operational readiness," citing the unpredictable and volatile geopolitical environment.
His other priorities include capability enhancement, the safety and security of personnel and information, and the overall well-being of the men and women in the armed forces. Addressing future threats, Admiral Swaminathan highlighted the changing character of warfare, remarking, "Multi domain warfare is already upon us." He affirmed that the Indian Navy is future-ready, continuously monitoring emerging technologies, and currently operates and fights across all six domains to ensure national security.
