Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed deep anguish over the loss of two lives from the State in a boat accident in Vietnam. Of the 33 persons from Andhra Pradesh who had gone on a trip to Vietnam, 19 were on the boat when the accident occurred. Two persons died in the incident, while others were rescued, and one person was receiving treatment after falling critically ill, Mr. Naidu said in a press release on Saturday. The Chief Minister enquired about the accident, the assistance being given to the victims, and the present condition of the tourists.
He directed the officials to take necessary measures to bring back those who survived and to contact the family members of the two deceased individuals and extend necessary support to them. He also advised the officials at AP Bhavan in Delhi to coordinate with the Vietnamese authorities and the Indian Embassy officials there. Earlier in the day, Andhra Pradesh’s HRD Minister Nara Lokesh reviewed the situation with senior State government officials and officials at AP Bhavan and sought detailed information after receiving inputs that people from the State could have been affected.
Officials informed the Minister that they were in touch with the Indian Embassy in Vietnam to ascertain the condition of the affected tourists. The Minister directed officials to work in close coordination with the Central government and ensure all assistance was extended to the affected tourists and their families. Jagan expresses shock YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed sorrow and shock at the boat accident in which several persons from the Telugu States lost their life. In a press release, he said it was extremely tragic that the boat carrying a group of Indian tourists visiting Vietnam met with such an accident.
Several mobile phone distributors from Kadapa and Machilipatnam were among those who died, he said, urging the Central and State governments to provide all support to the tourists from the Telugu States currently stranded in Vietnam. He requested the officials to intensify rescue operations to locate the missing ones.
