A one-and-a-half-year-old child died in Kerala's Kannur after allegedly developing severe complications from anesthesia administered for minor facial stitches. The toddler's parents have alleged medical negligence against the private hospital in Payyanur. The hospital rejected the claims, stating the child suffered an unforeseen cardiac arrest immediately after the anesthesia was administered and could not be saved despite receiving medical care for several days.
Following the child's death on Friday, Democratic Youth Federation of India workers staged a protest march towards the hospital, which resulted in a confrontation with the police.
