TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) lacks the characteristics of a democratic political party. Such a party was detrimental to the interests of Andhra Pradesh due to its criminal mindset and destructive politics., Mr. Naidu said in an informal chat with the media persons at party central office, near Mangalagiri, on Saturday. Naidu observed that several IAS officers had become scapegoats in the corrupt deeds of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his family, and many industries / businesses were ruined during the YSRCP government’s term.
“Unfortunately, the YSRCP leaders continue to threaten investors at a time when the coalition government si making all possible efforts to attract investments,” the Chief Minister observed. He said the Bhogapuram International Airport was nearing completion, and the Polavaram and Veligonda projects were fast approaching the final stages of execution. These and other developments created anxiety in the YSRCP, forcing it to try to derail the progress being made. Under the previous YSRCP government, curbs had been imposed on farmers’ lands under Section 22-A as part of a conspiracy to seize valuable properties.
As a consequence, many affected farmers were unable to even obtain agricultural loans, the Chief Minister said. Responding to questions on social media abuse, Mr. Naidu said the government was working on formation of a task force to curb fake posts, character assassination and defamatory content online, with due priority to punish those resorting to personal attacks on women. About the government's decision to reclaim the land allotted to Brahmani Steels Limited, the Chief Minister alleged that the greed of a single individual had resulted in the loss of mineral wealth worth lakhs of crores.
He insisted that illegal mining had been carried out under the guise of establishing a steel plant in Kadapa district, and noted that the Obulapuram mining issue remained unresolved.
