Attempts being made to shield the big fish in Ram Temple donation theft case, says Congress MP
Congress MP Ujjwal Raman Singh on Saturday (July 11, 2026) said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has maintained silence over the Ram Temple donation embezzlement case
Congress MP Ujjwal Raman Singh on Saturday (July 11, 2026) said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has maintained silence over the Ram Temple donation embezzlement case. Mr. Singh, who represents Prayagraj parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh, said that since the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra was formed under Mr. Modi’s supervision, he ought to accept moral responsibility and clarify his accountability in this matter. Addressing a press conference at Sadaquat Ashram, the State party headquarters in Patna, the Congress leader also questioned why RSS leaders Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, who were associated with the temple Trust, had resigned if no wrongdoing occurred. Singh asked why the people associated with the Trust and the government were afraid of the demand for an independent investigation into the embezzlement case under the supervision of a sitting Supreme Court judge.
Political plunder by BJP Taking a dig at the Uttar Pradesh government, Mr. Singh lamented that donations collected in the name of Lord Ram have fallen victim to the political plunder by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). “Maryada Purushottam Lord Ram is a symbol of the faith, culture, and moral consciousness of crores of Indians. From every corner of the country, the poor, farmers, labourers, women, and devotees came forward to contribute their hard-earned money and devotion for the construction of the Ram Temple. Organisations belonging to the BJP, RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), and the Sangh Parivar engaged in politics in the name of Lord Ram for nearly three decades, collecting donations from the country’s poor and middle class,” Mr. Singh said. “Today, those same crores of Ram devotees are compelled to ask under whose patronage were the donations and offerings collected in the name of Lord Ram looted?
This is not merely a financial scam. It is a gross betrayal of the faith, trust, and sentiments of crores of devotees,” he further said. Singh added that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is now also investigating the expenses incurred for major Ram Temple events since the inauguration. “Approximately ₹113 crore was spent on the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony held on January 22, 2024, which was attended by around 8,000 guests. Approximately ₹10.12 crore was spent on the flag-hoisting ceremony held on November 25, 2025,” Mr. Singh said. He stressed that action was only being taken against low-level employees, while the accountability of the Trust’s top office-bearers has yet to be established. Cover-up attempt “An alleged scam of this magnitude would not have been possible without CCTV surveillance, multi-layered security arrangements, and the patronage of influential figures.
