Fifteen Indian tourists died after a speedboat capsized near Vietnam's Phu Quoc Island. The vessel, operated by Ocean Pear Island Company, was carrying 32 Indian tourists and four crew members. It overturned about 400 meters off the Hon Mei route while travelling towards An Thoi Port. The Indian Embassy in Vietnam confirmed the casualties and established control rooms in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to assist families.
Although it was not raining, reports indicate sea conditions were rough with strong winds. Local authorities, tourists, and nearby boats joined the search and rescue operations. An investigation is currently underway to determine if safety norms were followed and to identify any negligence that led to the tragedy.
