At least 15 Indian tourists have died after a speedboat capsized near Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. The vessel, operated by Ocean Pear Island Company, was carrying 32 Indian tourists and four crew members. It was travelling from Hon May Rut to An Thoi Port when it overturned approximately 400 meters off the coast. According to reports, the sea conditions were rough with strong winds and choppy waters, though it was not raining at the time of the incident.
Nearby tourist boats and locals immediately joined the rescue efforts, with some seen administering CPR to the victims. The Indian Embassy in Vietnam has confirmed the death toll and is closely monitoring the situation. Control rooms have been established in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to provide assistance and information to the affected families. Local authorities have launched a search and rescue operation, and an inquiry is expected to determine if safety measures were followed despite the adverse weather conditions.
