(IMAGE: PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party, alleging that it “used to take over temples" and diverted temple donations to construct mosque walls. His remarks came amid the ongoing investigation into the alleged Ram Temple donation theft case, which has triggered a political confrontation between the BJP and the opposition. Addressing a public gathering in Ayodhya, Adityanath also targeted the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, accusing them of questioning the authenticity of Lord Ram and opposing the development of Ayodhya. Stepping up his criticism of the Samajwadi Party, the chief minister alleged that the party had misused temple resources during its tenure. He claimed that the Samajwadi Party used to take over temples and that donations made by devotees were used to construct mosque walls. The remarks come as political parties continue to trade allegations over issues linked to the Ram Temple and donations associated with the project.
CM Yogi on Lord Ram Yogi Adityanath also referred to an alleged attempt to offer namaz on the steps of Hanumangarhi in Ayodhya. “People who are now speaking about Lord Ram and faith had recently attempted to offer namaz on the steps of Hanumangarhi," he said. The chief minister’s remarks referred to the BJP’s long-standing allegation that during the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government in 2003, there was an attempt to organise Ramzan prayers and an iftar near the Hanumangarhi temple. Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police and BJP MP Brij Lal has previously claimed that local police denied permission for the proposed namaz, preventing it from taking place. Questioning the incident, Adityanath asked, “Can anyone ever recite the Hanuman Chalisa inside the Jama Masjid? Can any government make that happen? Can the Congress or the Samajwadi Party make it happen? If they cannot, then why was this act allowed? Why was this act committed on the steps of Hanumangarhi in Ayodhya?" The chief minister also accused the opposition of opposing Ayodhya’s development. He said Samajwadi Party leaders had once mocked the idea of an international airport in Ayodhya.
