As heavy rains and waterlogging disrupted life across Mumbai, one man made sure that the city’s four-legged residents were not left struggling for food and shelter. A video shared by Mumbai-based animal rescuer and feeder Het Vora showed a touching moment when he found a stray dog hiding inside a waterlogged building and arrived with food for the frightened animal. Het, who regularly shares videos of rescuing and feeding stray animals on Instagram, posted the clip showing him walking through the staircase lobby of a building that had been affected by flooding. The dog appeared hesitant and scared, likely taking shelter from the heavy rainfall outside. As Het approached and gestured towards the food, the dog immediately stood up. Its tail began wagging as it moved around excitedly, waiting patiently for the meal. The simple interaction captured the relief and happiness of the animal finally receiving help after being left hungry amid the harsh weather conditions. Sharing the video, Het wrote, “Due to heavy rain and water logging conditions they are hiding themselves and are hungry!” Watch the video here The video received an emotional response from viewers, many of whom appreciated Het’s efforts to look after stray animals during a difficult time.
Several users pointed out that while flooding and heavy rains affected people across the city, stray animals often had fewer options for finding food and safe places to stay. They thanked Het for taking the time to reach animals that were struggling during the monsoon. “It’s disheartening to see, but happy that someone still cares for them. Thank you,” one user commented. Another viewer praised Het’s compassion, writing, “Awwww my godddd!!! Such a nice soul you are and that pretty lil baby.” Many others shared similar messages of gratitude, saying his efforts showed the importance of kindness towards animals, especially during extreme weather conditions when they are often left vulnerable.
The video also highlighted the challenges faced by stray animals during Mumbai’s monsoon season, when flooded streets and heavy rainfall can make it difficult for them to find food, shelter and safety. Ends
