He said the miscreants turned a deaf ear to collective appeals by him and the collector of Datia, Swapnil Wankhade, to vacate the place and allow the traffic to move. “Because of this, a traffic jam stretching about 15 kilometers has formed. Nearby districts are also being affected. Around 4 AM this morning, they suddenly started pelting stones at the police. The police fired tear gas shells, after which the stone-pelting intensified. More than 6 of our personnel have been seriously injured. They are all admitted to the hospital", SP Khandelwal said. The officer said several of the demonstrators were detained, adding an action would be initiated against them. At present, the police are trying to clear the traffic jam. “The Additional SP and I also sustained injuries. Then we fired tear gas shells again and, showing strictness, chased them away. They are now hiding. They have been told to either surrender or leave peacefully. The ‘chakka jam’ will not be tolerated. Some people have been taken into custody.
