As they were nearing their home, a neighbour, identified as Raju Shah, allegedly approached carrying a spade and launched a sudden attack on the child. Family members alleged that the accused struck the girl repeatedly with the weapon, inflicting fatal injuries. The seven-year-old died on the spot before any help could reach her. News of the killing spread rapidly through the village, sparking widespread anger among residents. A large crowd reportedly chased the accused and gathered outside his residence, where they set the house ablaze in protest over the gruesome murder. Following information about the incident, multiple police teams and administrative officials rushed to the village.
A heavy police deployment was made under the supervision of Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rajiv Ranjan to prevent further violence and bring the situation under control. Police said the accused was arrested after a concerted operation amid tense conditions in the area. Authorities managed to disperse the crowd and restore normalcy after several hours of effort. Speaking on the incident, SDPO Rajiv Ranjan said police had taken the accused into custody and launched an investigation into the motive behind the murder.
