AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami will review the party’s performance in the Assembly election in eight districts on July 15, 16, and 18. These districts — Erode, Tiruvallur, Theni, Pudukottai, Cuddalore, Karur, the Niligirs, and Virudhunagar — cover 51 Assembly constituencies.
The review will be held at the party headquarters in Chennai, according to a release. The party drew a blank in Virudhunagar, Theni, and the Nilgiris districts. Out of 51 seats, it won in only nine constituencies. Even in the nine seats, those who won in Karur, Perundurai and Viralimalai had quit their post and joined the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
In Cuddalore district, where the party won three seats, the Bhuvanagiri legislator — A. Arumozhithevan — was among those who had not accepted the new assignment given by
Mr. Palaniswami after being stripped of their earlier posts for having gone against the party’s line of approach during the trust motion in the Assembly two months ago.
