An India Today report from ground zero near the Durand Line reveals the aftermath of the June 29 aerial strikes that killed 26 people, mostly women and children. The first strike occurred around 9:30 PM, followed by a second strike that caused additional casualties as rescue operations began.
The Taliban government retaliated with a drone strike inside Pakistan the following day. While Pakistan accused Afghanistan of harbouring Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan elements involved in a Karachi attack, locals maintain the targeted residence housed only civilians. Taliban forces have fortified their border positions and warned of further retaliation in equal measure if Pakistan initiates more aggression along the border.
