Hero MotoCorp is set to take a major step towards alternative fuel mobility with the launch of its first fle fuel motorcycle in India on June 3. The unveiling will take place in New Delhi in the presence of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The upcoming motorcycle is expected to become the country’s first two-wheeler capable of running on 100 per cent ethanol (E100), underlining the government’s continued push towards cleaner and more sustainable fuel alternatives. The launch also marks Hero MotoCorp’s formal entry into the fle fuel segment, which is still at a nascent stage in the Indian two-wheeler market.
Read Full Story While the company has not officially confirmed the product name, industry reports suggest the motorcycle could be based on either the popular Splendor or HF Deluxe commuter platforms. Notably, a fle fuel version of the HF Deluxe had previously been showcased by Hero MotoCorp at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, giving an early indication of the brand’s plans for ethanol-powered mobility. Fle fuel vehicles are designed to operate on varying blends of petrol and ethanol, including high-ethanol fuels such as E85 and E100. At present, most petrol-powered vehicles in India are compatible with E20 fuel, which contains 20 per cent ethanol.
However, the government has been actively encouraging manufacturers to develop vehicles capable of running on much higher ethanol blends in order to reduce crude oil imports and lower vehicular emissions. Hero MotoCorp’s upcoming motorcycle is expected to play an important role in expanding access to ethanol-based mobility in the mass-market commuter segment. If launched on the Splendor or HF Deluxe platform, the motorcycle could benefit from Hero’s extensive customer base and widespread rural reach. Currently, the fle fuel motorcycle space in India remains limited. Suzuki Motorcycle India offers the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, which is compatible with E85 fuel, while Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India had earlier introduced the fle fuel version of the Honda CB300F before discontinuing it from the market.
