Officials of the Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE), in association with the Government Railway Police (GRP), seized 31.5 kg of ganja from the Ratnachal Express and arrested three persons besides apprehending a juvenile for allegedly smuggling the contraband. The arrested were identified as D.

GRP Circle Inspector J. V. Ramana said the contraband, valued at about โน65,000, was seized during a joint operation by the EAGLE and GRP teams.
According to the police, Raju allegedly procured the ganja from tribal residents of Janathabai village in Odisha and transported it to Annavaram in Kakinada district. The contraband, packed in small cartons, was then handed over to the others for transportation to Bengaluru.
Acting on a tip-off, the EAGLE and GRP teams intercepted the group travelling on the Ratnachal Express at Vijayawada on Thursday and busted the smuggling racket, Mr. Ramana said.
