The Chittoor police on Thursday night (July 9, 2026) launched an inspection drive covering dhabas, lodges, and roadside eateries as part of efforts to tighten security, deter unlawful activities, and improve safety for night-time travel. The inspections continued until the early hours of Friday (July 10) across the district. Speaking to the media here, Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi said that inspection teams visited establishments located along and State Highways, major roads, urban centres and rural areas.
The teams verified guest registration procedures, employee records, identity documents, and reviewed the parking arrangements, lighting facilities, and the installation and functioning of CCTV cameras. “We have also focused on checking whether the details of staff at all these workstations have been properly registered with the jurisdictional police stations,” the SP said. Tushar Dudi stated that the special drive aimed to prevent illegal activities, curb the use and transportation of narcotic substances, ensure the safety of women and passengers, and reduce the risk of road accidents.
“Owners and managers of lodges, hotels, and dhabas were instructed to discourage unnecessary late-night gatherings and remain vigilant against suspicious activities. They were directed to inform the area police immediately in case of any suspicious
activity on their premises,” the SP said. The SP warned the establishments to strictly prohibit gambling, drug abuse, alcohol-related violations, or other illegal activities on their premises, and any violation would face stringent legal action.
