The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response Force (APSDRF), in coordination with the Eluru district police, conducted a mock flood rescue drill on the banks of the Godavari at Rudramakota village in Eluru district on Friday.
Officials of the Revenue Department, the police and the APSDRF participated in the exercise, which demonstrated rescue operations for people stranded during floods. APSDRF personnel also explained the methods of rescuing victims trapped in floodwaters and providing first- aid.
The teams showcased the use of life-saving equipment, including inflatable boats, ropes, life jackets and floodlights, during the drill. APSDRF personnel appealed to residents of Rudramakota and other riverbank habitations to remain vigilant during natural calamities and cooperate with rescue teams during emergencies.
Velerupadu Mandal Revenue Officer Srinivas, Kukunoor Circle Inspector Bala Suresh Babu, Velerupadu Sub-Inspector Naveen Kumar and APSDRF personnel took part in the demonstration.
