Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud said there was merit in Telangana Rakshna Sena (TRS) chief K. Kavitha’s allegation that the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) received ₹1,400 crore through quid pro quo deals with contractors from Andhra Pradesh, further adding that the transaction raised serious questions that needed to be answered. Goud was responding to the allegations levelled by Ms. Kavitha against her father KCR’s party. Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday (July 10, 2026), he also alleged that irrigation projects executed during the previous regime had developed structural problems and demanded that BRS leader T.

Harish Rao explain the lapses. The TPCC chief said the party would address internal issues only after a fact-finding exercise, and asserted that the Congress disciplinary committee would deal with all leaders equally. He said two senior leaders, AICC secretary for Telangana Sachin Sawant and Congress leader T. Jagga Reddy, had been entrusted with gathering facts on issues relating to MLA Kadiyam Srihari, Minister Konda Surekha and the Tungaturthi constituency. Appropriate action would be taken after their report, he said. Referring to BRS legislators who had extended support to the Congress government, Mr. Goud said they had done so to protect democracy. The Congress leader also criticised BJP MP Etala Rajender, alleging that he remained silent when irregularities in water resources and public funds occurred during the BRS regime, despite serving as Finance Minister in the then government of BRS.

He claimed that Mr. Rajender appeared to be supporting the BRS instead of questioning its alleged mistakes. Taking on the BJP, Mr. Goud said the party should fulfil its promise to provide two crore jobs before seeking votes in the State. Whether BJP president J.P. Nadda or any other national leader visited Telangana, Congress would continue to ask the same question on employment, he said. On appointments to State Corporations, Mr. Goud said a decision would be taken after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan hold consultations on July 15. In a separate press conferences, Congress MP Chamala Kiran Reddy and MLA Medipally Satyam questioned Mr. Harish Rao’s credibility to criticise Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy after ‘utterly failing’ in the construction of the Kaleshwaram project as the Irrigation Minister.
