He allegedly locked her two younger brothers in a room before stabbing her multiple times in the hall. Rapid Read (Representative Image) An 18-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her former boyfriend inside her home in Bengaluru after she rejected his marriage proposal and her family arranged her marriage with another man. The incident took place around 9.30 am on Thursday in Ramagondanahalli. Police identified the victim as Nandini Das and the accused as 18-year-old Bande Nawaz. The two had studied together at a private school, had known each other for the past three years, and were in a relationship. According to police, Nawaz was upset over Das’s impending marriage to another man.
He allegedly entered her house, confined her two younger brothers in a room, and attacked her in the hall with a knife, inflicting multiple injuries to her neck, hands, ribs and thighs. Police said he later attempted to kill himself. Das’s parents were not at home when the attack took place. Despite suffering multiple stab injuries, she managed to run out of the house and raise an alarm. Neighbours rushed to help and informed the police, who reached the spot and shifted both Das and Nawaz to separate hospitals. Das is undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital, while Nawaz has been admitted to Vydehi Hospital in Bengaluru. Police said Nawaz worked as a driver in Whitefield and was residing in Tubarahalli in the Varthur area. A case of attempted murder has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway.
In a similar case reported last month, a man identified as Rajeev allegedly stabbed his 23-year-old girlfriend, Anjali, to death following an argument over marriage. Police said the two met at their workplace and had been in a relationship for three to four years. However, Anjali’s parents opposed their marriage because of Rajeev’s background. According to the police, Rajeev repeatedly tried to convince Anjali and her family to approve the marriage. As family pressure mounted, Anjali reportedly began distancing herself from him. On June 28, Rajeev allegedly invited her for dinner, where the two argued over marriage. When Anjali walked away, he allegedly followed her and stabbed her in the neck with a knife he had brought along. Anjali was taken to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Rajeev was later arrested.
