Andhra Pradesh Minister for Mines, Geology and Excise Kollu Ravindra has said the government is committed to providing a drinking water tap connection to every household in the Machilipatnam Assembly constituency, and to speeding up development in the villages. The Minister, along with Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Chairman Konakalla Narayana Rao, inaugurated drinking water pipeline works at Campbellpet in Machilipatnam Rural mandal on Thursday (July 9, 2026).
He said the government had sanctioned ₹200 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission to ensure safe drinking water reached every household in the constituency. Ravindra said improving basic civic amenities was a priority, and highlighted the works taken up over the past year. He said 50 km of roads had been laid at a cost of ₹37 crore, and that additional road works worth ₹2 crore were in progress.
“Proposals have also been prepared for improving roads in residential colonies and widening the approach road to the Machilipatnam Medical College into a two-lane road,” he said. The Minister said the road to the Fishing Harbour had been upgraded under the SASCI scheme, a culvert had been constructed and work on the Garaladibba–Polatitippa bridge was underway. He announced plans to replace damaged power lines and strengthen the electricity distribution network across the constituency.
Criticising the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government, Mr. Ravindra alleged that it had neglected development and Amaravati. He said the coalition government was working to attract investment and create 20 lakh jobs, and that projects such as the Machilipatnam Port, the Medical College and the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam road would be completed soon.
