Stating that Telangana is bound to become a sports hub in the country, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that Telangana will host the 8th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games 2026 and the Inter-District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM).
The State has also secured hosting rights for the Hockey India League, World Pickleball League, Archery Premier League, and Tennis Premier League, reflecting its growing stature in the country’s sporting ecosystem, he said. He was speaking after inaugurating the Gachibowli Sports District and the Young India Physical Education and Sports University (YIPESU) along with Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president and former Indian athlete PT Usha at the Gachibowli stadium.
Reddy said in the last 20 years no major tournament was organised in Hyderabad and particularly in the last 10 years the sports facilities turned
into wedding halls and places to host entertainment events. This is bound to change now.
