Government Schemes: 'Krishak Bandhu New' To Launch Soon — Benefits And How To Apply Published By, Edited By Last Updated: July 10, 2026, 11:13 IST State agriculture minister Dudh Kumar Mondal confirms new applications begin this month; nearly 30 lakh names from the old beneficiary list may be dropped. Sections of the agricultural community consider the initiative especially significant for farming-dependent districts such as Bankura. The West Bengal government is set to roll out the ‘Krishak Bandhu New’ scheme for farmers, with new applications opening within July, state agriculture minister Dudh Kumar Mondal has said. The beneficiary list under the old Krishak Bandhu scheme will be reviewed, with nearly 30 lakh names likely to be removed from it. To draw up a fresh list of eligible farmers, application forms will be distributed door-to-door, officials said.
Multiple members of the same family will not need to apply separately — a single household application will suffice, according to the announcement. Why Does This Matter For Districts Like Bankura? Sections of the agricultural community consider the initiative especially significant for farming-dependent districts such as Bankura, where a large share of the population depends on cultivation. Amid erratic monsoons, rising input costs and fluctuating market prices, government financial assistance remains a key support for many farmers. If the new scheme succeeds in identifying genuine farmers and delivering aid accordingly, small and marginal cultivators in the district are expected to be the direct beneficiaries. What Was Discussed At The Nabanna Meeting? According to Nabanna sources, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and Agriculture Minister Dudh Kumar Mondal discussed bringing farmers under the ambit of various government schemes during a meeting.
Officials are specifically working on aligning the state scheme with central government support programmes, including PM-Kisan, to bring a larger number of genuine farmers into coverage. It is with this objective that the old list is being verified and fresh data collected. What Do Farmers In The District Expect? Farmers in the district say that if the application and verification process is carried out transparently, genuine beneficiaries will get access to government support. However, they caution that the administration must ensure no eligible farmer is unfairly excluded among those dropped from the old list. Agricultural experts say that if the Krishak Bandhu New scheme is successfully implemented given Bankura’s socio-economic realities, it will not only strengthen farmers’ financial security but also play a key role in boosting the district’s agricultural economy.
