The Central government has notified the Drugs 10th Amendment Rules 2026 to tighten regulations on high-alcohol oral medicines. Under the new rules, all oral formulations containing more than 12 percent ethyl alcohol by volume, packed and sold in bottles or packs larger than 30 ml, will be brought under the stricter Schedule H1 category of the Drugs Rules 1945.
