The rain, however, also brought a rare relief as the city recorded its cleanest air in nearly three years. The IMD has also issued an Orange alert for the national capital and adjoining areas for today, Friday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Delhi today weather forecast suggests light to moderate rain in many places, with moderate showers possible in isolated areas. Occasional thunderstorms are also expected, particularly during the morning and forenoon. The weather in Delhi is expected to remain generally cloudy throughout the day. The maximum temperature is likely to stay between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could range from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius. Weather Today Delhi: Rain And Thunderstorms Expected Those checking the today-weather Delhi forecast should prepare for more showers and possible disruptions. Easterly winds are likely to blow at 5-10 kmph during the morning before strengthening to 10-15 kmph in the afternoon. By evening, the winds are expected to turn southwesterly and continue at speeds of 10-15 kmph.
The IMD has warned that Friday’s rain and strong winds could lead to minor traffic disruptions, a higher risk of road accidents, power outages and partial damage to vulnerable structures. Residents have been advised to check traffic conditions before leaving home and follow official advisories issued during the day. Weather Today Delhi: Heavy Rain Leaves Roads Flooded, Traffic Crawling Thursday’s downpour was among the heaviest spells recorded in Delhi this monsoon season. Tukhmirpur in northeast Delhi’s Khajuri recorded the highest rainfall at 160 mm. Mayur Vihar received 103 mm, Delhi University 90 mm and Mehrauli 86 mm. Pusa and the Lodhi Road AWS recorded 83 mm each, while Safdarjung, Delhi’s main weather station, logged 72.6 mm in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am. The heavy rain caused widespread waterlogging and traffic jams across the capital. Authorities received 68 complaints of waterlogging during the day. Of these, the Public Works Department received 40, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi 16 and the New Delhi Municipal Council 12. Several trucks and cars were partially submerged in Alipur. Traffic was also hit at ITO, Rohtak Road, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, NH-48, Ring Road, Punjabi Bagh and Shadipur.
