During monsoon rainfall in Maharashtra's Palghar, an ambulance was unable to reach a pregnant woman in labour because roads were inundated. With roads submerged, local residents and social workers intervened to assist. Since no stretcher was available, they removed a wooden door from a nearby house to use as a makeshift stretcher.
They placed the pregnant woman on the door and carried her on their shoulders, wading through chest-deep floodwaters. The team successfully transported her to a rural hospital, where she safely delivered a healthy baby boy. This collective effort ensured a safe delivery despite the weather conditions and lack of emergency transport.
