Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz have intensified following US strikes in Iran and statements from US President Donald Trump, disrupting marine traffic. According to Iran's Fars News Agency, an Indian oil tanker was forced to turn back from the Omani corridor after warnings from Iranian authorities, who asserted that no vessel can cross without their permission.
The temporary coastal route was declared on June 24 by Oman and the United Nations International Maritime Organization. Several Indian-flagged vessels remain stuck west of the strait, although fifteen ships had successfully crossed carrying fertilisers last week. India has urged peace and dialogue to resolve the ongoing crisis and secure critical energy supplies.
