Bombay HC Orders Probe Into Playgroup Negligence After Toddler Assaulted in Locked Room
The acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court has issued an administrative order directing the Aurangabad bench to conduct an inquiry into an incident
The acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court has issued an administrative order directing the Aurangabad bench to conduct an inquiry into an incident where a playgroup child was assaulted by a classmate. On June 22, 2026, the child was left unattended for over ten minutes in a locked room by preschool staff and suffered multiple injuries, including over twenty bite marks.
Despite a non-bailable offence, police failed to take proper action. A petition was filed in the High Court seeking mandatory CCTV installations, emergency provisions, and registration rules for all preschools. The court's inquiry report may lead to a suo moto public interest litigation if the initial investigation is deemed insufficient.
