The D.K. Shivakumar-led Congress government plans to establish 2,000 Karnataka Public Schools across the State, with each school serving three gram panchayats. In the first phase, around 800 such schools will be built at a cost of around ₹10 crore-₹15 crore each.
Ultimately, the State will have around 2,000 such schools. “We plan to use Corporate Social Responsibility funds for the construction of these schools and to provide infrastructure and technical amenities,” Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar told officers at the Belagavi division level review meeting at the Suvarna Soudha on Thursday.
He asked officers to make all preparations, including looking for CSR funding avenues. “The State government will ask large educational institutions in all districts to
adopt at least three government schools. Our objective is to provide quality education to all,” the Chief Minister said.
