A four-year-old girl was left critically injured after she was allegedly raped by her 12-year-old relative in Odisha's Nabarangpur district. Police have arrested the accused minor and launched an investigation under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The assault took place in the Dabugaan area under Dabugaan Police Station limits.
Read Full Story According to police and local sources, the four-year-old girl was playing near her house when the 12-year-old boy, who is related to her and belongs to the same village, allegedly sexually assaulted her. Her father later found the child in a bloodied condition and rushed her to the Dabugaan Community Health Centre. As her injuries were severe, doctors referred her to the Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment.
Following the incident, the girl's father filed a complaint at Dabugaan Police Station. Police registered a case and began an investigation. On Thursday morning, the accused minor was taken into custody and brought to the police station for questioning. The investigation is being supervised by Dabugaan Police Station officer Lachhmi Paraja. Confirming the action, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer said, "A minor girl rape case has been registered in Dabugaon Police Station this morning.
Dabugaon IIC filed Case 160/26 under BNS Sections 62, 65(2), 486 and the POCSO Act against the accused. Further investigation is underway." Police are continuing their investigation into the case. Ends
