NDTV's ground report from Beit Shemesh in Israel where a synagogue was destroyed in an Iranian ballistic missile strike on March 01,2026. Nine civilians were killed after the missile hit the residential neighbourhood during Operation Roaring Lion. Israel International Police Spokesperson Dean Elsdunne, speaking exclusively to NDTV’s Aishvarya Jain, accused Iran of deliberately targeting civilians.
Israeli authorities claim children and families were present inside the synagogue during the attack. The strike caused destruction across nearby residential blocks and triggered a large scale rescue operation. Israel says the attack reflects a broader pattern of strikes on civilian communities.
