HYDERABAD Stressing on the importance of preparing young women for leadership roles beyond academic excellence, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said initiatives like Project Vidya 3.0 would equip students with leadership abilities, communication skills and a strong sense of social responsibility. He noted that the programme would help young women emerge as confident decision-makers and future leaders capable of contributing meaningfully to the society. Ranjan was speaking during the launch of Project Vidya 3.0 and the Emerging Women Leaders Programme (EWLP) at the Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous), Begumpet, on Thursday.
The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Zelalem Birhanu Taffesse, Chief of Field Office, UNICEF India, and K. Padmavathi, Principal of the college. The EWLP is a structured one-year leadership development initiative aimed at nurturing ethical, socially responsible and capable young women leaders. Implemented by The Good Talk Factory Foundation (TGTF) with Unislink as its CSR partner, Project Vidya 3.0 seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and workplace readiness through experiential learning. The programme focuses on developing competencies in leadership, communication, professional etiquette, organisational skills, entrepreneurship, ethics and social responsibility.
A total of 55 final-year students have been enrolled for the initiative and will undergo training through 15 sessions spread over the year. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Zelalem Birhanu Taffesse said investment in girls’ education and leadership development generates long-term benefits for families, communities and the nation. He observed that programmes that strengthen life skills and confidence among young women are vital for achieving inclusive and sustainable development. Welcoming the initiative, Prof. K. Padmavathi said the institution remained committed to holistic education that integrates academic excellence with leadership, values and personality development.
She said Project Vidya 3.0 would provide students valuable opportunities to enhance their confidence, communication abilities and professional skills. The programme was jointly organised by Jyothirmai, outgoing student union convenor, Swetha, Project Vidya Lead, and TGTF team members. The event concluded with an interactive orientation session introducing students to the objectives and opportunities under Project Vidya 3.0.
