In a major relief to the farmers of Gutupalle village in Bethamcherla mandal, more than 2,000 acres of land have been removed from the 22-A list of revenue records with the initiation of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The Chief Minister personally visited the Banaganapalle Tahsildar office to give a permanent resolution to the land dispute in Gutupalle on Thursday. Naidu, who visited Banaganapalle to distribute new pattadar passbooks to the farmers, also interacted with them after initiating the process of removing lands from 22-A list.
The previous administration had placed 2,669 acres of farmers’ land in Survey number 215 in Gutupalle of Bethamcherla mandal under the 22-A restricted category, leaving the farmers in distress. Farmers from Bethamcherla had earlier submitted a representation to Mr. Naidu in March this year seeking a resolution to the issue. Responding to their grievances, the government decided to remove 2,074 acres of patta land from the 22-A(1)(c) list. The government also identified that 426 acres of Waqf lands had been added to the prohibited list in 2023.
Naidu issued orders at the Banaganapalle Tahsildar office to remove the 2,074 acres from the 22-A list via the IGRS website and the Revenue department officials carried out the procedure in the presence of the Chief Minister. The Collector and District Registrar removed the lands from the prohibited list in the presence of Mr. Naidu. Officials informed the Chief Minister that 897 farmers have benefited from the removal of Waqf lands from the 22-A list. Interacting with the farmers, Mr. Naidu said that the farmers’ lands were returned to them in fulfilment of the promise made.
Farmers expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for restoring their lands. It was also decided to regularise and remove 101 acres of ‘dotted lands’ (lands with ambiguous ownership status) belonging to 23 farmers in the Banaganapalle constituency from the prohibited list. The farmers thanked Mr. Naidu for resolving the land issue that had been turned into a dispute by the previous rulers.
