Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has appointed M.V. Dhananjaya, Principal Scientist (Plant Breeding) at ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru, as Vice-Chancellor of Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences (KSNUAHS), Shivamogga. Dhananjaya will replace incumbent Vice-Chancellor R.C. Jagadeesha, whose tenure ends on July 12.
As per the order, issued on Thursday, he will hold office for a period of four years from the date of assuming charge. Dhananjaya has 30 years of experience in research, teaching and extension in horticulture. He is presently serving as CEO of BESST-Hort, NIDHI-TBI, Government of India, and specialises in genetics and plant breeding.
He has handled over 36 research projects. Speaking to The Hindu over the phone, Mr. Dhananjaya said he would assume charge of the new responsibility next week, after
being relieved of his present position. He said he had specific plans and projects for his new role, which he would share with the media at a later stage.
