A railway gatekeeper who displayed exceptional bravery and alacrity by risking his own life and rescued a trespasser from the track moments before the arrival of a train at a level- crossing between Kollidam and Sirkazhi in Tiruchi Division recently was honoured by the divisional authorities here on Thursday.
Tiruchi Divisional Railway Manager Balak Ram Negi appreciated the gatekeeper Sandeep Chahar for his commendable act and honoured him with a safety award. Negi presented a Safety Certificate to the gatekeeper in recognition of his effort. A press release from the Tiruchi
Railway Division said on July 6 around 4.30 p.m. while protecting the passage of the Mayiladuthurai - Villupuram MEMU passenger (66020) at level crossing gate No. 214 between Kollidam and Sirkazhi, Mr. Chahar risked his life and rescued a trespasser from the
track moments before the train whizzed past, averting a probable fatal accident. “His timely intervention, courage, and unwavering commitment to public safety and safe train operations exemplify the highest standards of dedication and professional standards of dedication and professionalism,” the release said.
