Airport firefighters, already on high alert and positioned along the strip, intercepted the jet within seconds and successfully extinguished the flames before they could breach the fuel tanks or compromise the aircraft's primary structure.The pilot, whose identity has not been released, managed to bring the multi-million dollar jet to a complete stop safely and walked away entirely uninjured, the Hellenic Air Force confirmed.Zakynthos airport, which has only one runway, saw operations briefly affected as emergency teams cleared the runway. British Airways, TUI and easyJet flights were diverted to Athens and Corfu, while several departing flights were delayed.The Hellenic Air Force has launched an investigation into the root cause of the malfunction and subsequent fire.
