Meanwhile, Mumbai faces severe monsoon hazards, with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation recording 1,696 tree falls in just eight days, heavily attributed to concretization weakening roots. In Pune, a massive collapse at a waste-to-energy plant in Moshi left one dead and eight workers feared trapped under debris, prompting a joint rescue operation by the Disaster Response Force, Army, and fire department.
Furthermore, Uttarakhand is reeling from intense monsoon rains, receiving a staggering 354 percent excess rainfall in 24 hours. The severe weather triggered landslides and rockfalls in Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, and Tehri, forcing the closure of 187 roads. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for several districts, warning of continued heavy rainfall as unregulated construction exacerbates the state's ecological crisis.
