Vikram Solar to invest ₹15,037 crore in BESS facility at Gangaikondan SIPCOT in Tirunelveli

The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday (July 9, 2026) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vikram Solar Limited to establish a Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) manufacturing facility at the SIPCOT Industrial Park at Gangaikondan in Tirunelveli district, with an investment of ₹15,037 crore that is expected to generate employment for 2,670 people.
The MoU was signed between the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department and Vikram Solar Limited in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at the Secretariat in Chennai. According to an official release, Vikram Solar already operates solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing facilities at Oragadam and Vallam in Tamil Nadu.
The company has also established an integrated manufacturing facility for solar PV cells and modules at Gangaikondan. Minister for Industries S. Keerthana; Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar; Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, S. Vijayakumar; Managing Director and
Chief Executive Officer of Guidance Tamil Nadu Deepak Jacob; Vikram Solar Limited Chairman and Managing Director Gyanesh Chaudhary; Chief Executive Officer Arun Mittal; Director (Capital Investments) Ashwini Agarwal; Advisor to the Director’s Board J.S. Bajaj; and senior government officials were present.
