The move falls in line with the decision made at the first cabinet meeting after Adhikari took the oath as the Chief Minister of Bengal, following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) decisive victory in the state assembly election.
In a post on ‘X’, the Chief Minister wrote: “Govt of WB has initiated intensified measures to strengthen Border Security by facilitating the construction of BSF Outposts & Barbed-Wire Fencing, further enhancing security in the Border areas." According to the report, Murshidabad was allotted the highest amount of land, at 38.805 acres, followed by Jalpaiguri with 35.165 acres and Cooch Behar with 22.95 acres. “In accordance with the decision taken during the first Cabinet Meeting of the State Government, this initiative has emerged as a significant milestone in progressing towards the target of handing over 600 acres of landing within 45 days", the post read.
