A woman in Ahmedabad has accused her husband and in-laws of domestic violence, dowry harassment and emotional abuse, alleging that she was locked inside a room so her husband could freely chat with other women online. The complaint, filed at the Chandkheda police station, has led to a case being registered against the accused, with an investigation underway.
According to the woman’s complaint, she married the accused in 2023 after he claimed to be earning between Rs 85,000 and Rs 1 lakh a month while working at a PG accommodation in Ahmedabad. However, after the marriage, she alleged that he told her his actual salary was only around Rs 55,000, raising doubts about the claims made before the wedding. The woman further alleged that although her husband had promised to settle in Ahmedabad after marriage, he resigned from his job soon after the wedding and moved back to Abu Road in Rajasthan. She claimed that her in-laws began restricting her from attending social gatherings and frequently harassed her over minor household issues. Allegations Of Extramarital Relationships According to the FIR, tensions escalated after the woman discovered that her husband was allegedly communicating with several women through social media.
She claimed that when she confronted him, he admitted to being involved with other women. The complainant further alleged that her husband assaulted her and locked her inside a room so that he could continue chatting with other women without interruption. Dowry Harassment Allegations The woman also accused her husband and in-laws of repeatedly demanding a car and cash from her parental family. She alleged that on one occasion, her husband assaulted her while under the influence of alcohol and later forced her out of the house after reiterating the demand. After allegedly enduring months of physical and mental harassment, the woman approached the Chandkheda Police Station seeking legal action. Police have registered a case against the husband and his family based on the woman’s complaint. The allegations are currently under investigation, and no court findings have been made in the matter.
